Among the seaduck smörgåsbord around the island and causeway were good numbers of Surf Scoters, some of which were wonderfully close as they split their time between courting and feeding. There are few better-, or more bizzare-looking ducks (or indeed birds) than the Puffin-in-a-mangle drakes, and although the light was poor, they're still endlessly photogenic.
