A brief but pleasant session on the Quaboag river with brother Ned on our final weekend in the US, just a few miles from the family homestead - a cold and sunny morning with plenty of activity and signs of early migration on and around the river.
Wildfowl on the water included Ring-necked and Black Ducks, Goosanders and Hooded Mergansers, Bald Eagles and Turkey Vultures circled overhead, and the first major arrival of Red-winged Blackbirds (complete with malfunctioning-robot-toy song) and American Robins were evident along the roadside.
