Some Velvet Morning

A quiet day on the patch, with icy northerlies and that rare local commodity once known as sunshine conspiring to produce few new arrivals but a weak surge of very welcome vitamin D. Nonetheless, in the spirit of there always being something to get a kick out of, a couple of hour's baywatch produced, amongst other things (including 33 Purple Sandpipers in the high tide roost) entertaining seafowl out on the surfable tide:

In perhaps the least productive of period of the year for seaducks, a total of 14 Common Scoters, two Velvet Scoters and ten Eiders, from a bench conveniently located on the clifftop about twenty seconds from my front door, is frankly a joy.
