
They're back. Out on the Brigg the other day and taking a break from a seawatch, I approached the small gathering of waders hidden in the rocks, which included summer plumage Turnstone and Sanderling (both too skittish to entertain the camera) as well as a handful of Dunlins, a couple of Whimbrel and a few Oystercatchers.

Part of the boulder not two metres in front of me then unexpectedly moved; typically accommodating and well camouflaged (but atypically in almost full summer plumage), these two Purple Sandpipers inevitably stole the show, and are the first to return to the area.
