Filey isn't Filey without Purple Sandpipers, characterful denizens of the Brigg's rocky, wave-smashed shoreline. Despite breeding much further north, only a few weeks pass without their presence (in midsummer), and by early July - when these photos were taken - they're already back in small numbers.
