Asio like it



It's turning out to be an exceptional year for incoming Short-eared Owls here at Filey, with a drawn-out continental invasion peaking recently with no fewer than twenty in three consecutive days mid-month; unprecedented, and a sight to behold, with birds landing among crashing waves on the Brigg, passing almost invisibly high overhead, dropping in on the clifftops, and pretty much anywhere else.


With arrivals often peaking in late October and well into November, it may well be that we've far from seen the last of these Scandinavian beauties this year - watch this space....
